The Uganda Peoples’ Defense Forces (UPDF) has officially launched the UPDF Recruitment 2025 drive, offering 11,500 opportunities to qualified Ugandan citizens to join the regular forces and professional units. The recruitment will be conducted in two phases—online application and physical verification—between Monday, July 7 to Friday, July 11, 2025.

Total Positions Available: 11,500
Recruitment Dates: July 7 – July 11, 2025
Physical Interviews: Nationwide across 135 districts and 11 cities
Phase 1: Online Application – UPDF Recruitment Portal
All aspiring candidates for UPDF Recruitment 2025 must submit their applications via the official portal:

Passport-size photograph
National ID
Academic documents
Signed application letter
Shortlisted candidates will be published on the UPDF website and their respective District Headquarters notice boards.
Phase 2: Physical & Medical Screening – In All Districts
Shortlisted applicants will be required to appear at designated district recruitment centres with the following:
Handwritten application with recommendations from LCI, LCII, LCIII, and GISO/DISO
National ID or NIN
Original and photocopies of academic documents
3 coloured passport-size photos
Note: The recruitment will be quota-based, using district-level population figures from UBOS (June 2024).
UPDF Recruitment 2025 Target Categories
UPDF Recruitment 2025 is targeting both regular force recruits and professionals, categorized as follows:
1. General Recruitment – Regular Forces
Qualification: UCE Certificate
Age: 18 – 22 years
2. Grade Five Teachers
Qualification: Diploma from a recognized teacher training institution
Age: 20 – 25 years
3. Air Force Professionals (Centralized Recruitment at Kololo)
Age Limit: 18 – 30 years
Categories Include:
Pilot Instructors (CPL, PPL, IR, Instructor rating)
Qualified Pilots
Aircraft Maintenance Engineers
Air Traffic Controllers
Meteorologists
IT, Software, Telecom, Mechanical, Electrical Engineers
Senior Six leavers (with a Science combination and ≥ 12 points)
UPDF Recruitment 2025 Eligibility Criteria
Applicants for UPDF Recruitment 2025 must meet the following requirements:
Must be Ugandan citizens with a valid National ID
Aged between 18–22 years (General) and up to 30 years (Professionals)
Must be physically and medically fit
Must be law-abiding with no criminal record
Must be residents of the district where they are applying
All applications must be endorsed by local leaders:
LC I, II, III Chairpersons
GISO or DISO
RDC
