The Ministry of Education and Sports has rolled out an exciting new initiative for the Academic Year 2025, offering a special government sponsorship program to support students enrolled in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions across Uganda.
This program targets trainees who have already been admitted under private sponsorship and provides them with a chance to switch to government sponsorship, especially for diploma programs that previously had no government-funded slots.
The move is part of Uganda’s wider effort to strengthen skills development, boost employability, and prepare more youth for jobs in Uganda and beyond.
Courses & Available Slots for TVET Sponsorship 2025
Below are the approved priority diploma courses under the special TVET sponsorship program:
National Diploma in Information and Communication Technology – 25 slots at Uganda Technical College – Lira
National Diploma in Animal Production – 15 slots at Rwentanga Farm Institute
National Diploma in Crop Production – 15 slots at Rwentanga Farm Institute
National Diploma in Animal Health – 10 slots at Rwentanga Farm Institute
These courses were carefully selected because they align with Uganda’s development priorities and offer direct pathways to employment and jobs in Uganda within agriculture, ICT, and animal health sectors.
Eligibility Criteria for TVET Sponsorship in Uganda 2025
To qualify for the Uganda TVET sponsorship program 2025, applicants must:
Hold a National or Craft Certificate with at least a credit, OR a UACE Certificate with credits in two relevant subjects.
Already possess an admission letter for the Academic Year 2025/2026 from either Uganda Technical College – Lira or Rwentanga Farm Institute for the listed courses.
The initiative also encourages female trainees and students with special needs to apply, in line with the government’s commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunities.

All completed application forms must be submitted no later than 23rd September 2025 to the mentioned institutions or the TVET Operations and Management Offices at Legacy Towers.
