2026 General Election: Where and When to Attend Presidential Campaign Rallies

The Electoral Commission (EC) has officially published the Uganda 2026 Presidential Campaign Programme for all eight presidential candidates ahead of the 2026 general elections.


According to the EC, campaigns officially kick off today, 29 September 2025, and will run until January 2026, covering every region of Uganda. The programme outlines when and where each candidate will hold campaign rallies.

The Uganda 2026 Presidential Campaign Programme was agreed upon during harmonisation meetings held at the EC headquarters on 7th Street, Industrial Area, Kampala.


The Presidential Elections Act mandates the EC to regulate the campaign period and publish the official schedule. The Commission explained that the purpose of the harmonised campaign programme is to:


  • Promote orderly, peaceful, free, and fair campaigns.

  • Prevent clashes between presidential candidates.

  • Ensure equal access to voters across Uganda.


Campaigns will strictly run between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm daily. Where gaps appear in the schedule, the EC clarified that it is because a candidate chose to rest or handle private activities.



All eight presidential candidates—through their agents—signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to respect the Uganda 2026 Presidential Campaign Programme.


The candidates are:


  • Yoweri Museveni (NRM) – incumbent President.

  • Elton Joseph Mabirizi (Conservative Party).

  • Robert Kasibante (National Peasants Party).

  • Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine (NUP).

  • Nandala Mafabi (FDC).

  • Mubarak Munyagwa (Common Party).

  • Mugisha Muntu (ANT).

  • Frank Mulira (RPP).


Each candidate received a copy of the campaign guidelines outlining expectations for peaceful and lawful conduct throughout the election period.


In its statement, the Electoral Commission said:

“The Uganda 2026 Presidential Campaign Programme was developed, agreed upon, and signed by all candidates’ representatives to ensure that campaigns are conducted smoothly, without conflict, and in an environment that upholds fairness and transparency.”
