The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has announced an extension of the deadline for individuals interested in applying for census enumerator positions. This move comes as a response to the overwhelming response from potential candidates and aims to ensure that a diverse pool of qualified applicants has the opportunity to participate in the upcoming national census.

UBOS extends deadline for census enumerator job applications

 

Originally set to close on March 15th, 2024, the deadline for applications has now been extended to March 22nd , 2024. This extension provides prospective candidates with extra time to submit their applications, thereby accommodating those who may have encountered challenges or delays in completing the process.


The census enumerator positions play a crucial role in the successful execution of the national census, which is scheduled to take place later this year. Enumerators are tasked with collecting accurate and reliable data from households and communities across the country, contributing to the compilation of comprehensive demographic information essential for informed decision-making and policy formulation.

UBOS emphasizes the importance of recruiting qualified and dedicated individuals to serve as census enumerators, as they are at the forefront of data collection efforts. As such, the bureau encourages interested applicants to thoroughly review the job requirements and qualifications before submitting their applications.


To be eligible for consideration, candidates must possess an “A” level certificate or its equivalent, and possess a credit in English and Mathematics at “O” level. Be fluent in the local languages of their enumeration areas, and have basic computer application knowledge.


Additionally, having a valid National Identity Card issued by the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) is a requirement.


UBOS assures prospective applicants that all necessary health and safety protocols will be implemented to safeguard the well-being of census enumerators and the communities they serve, amidst ongoing concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.


Individuals interested in applying for census enumerator positions are encouraged to visit the UBOS website or contact their nearest UBOS regional office for detailed information on the application process and requirements. The bureau reiterates its commitment to promoting transparency, fairness, and inclusivity throughout the recruitment process.
