Job Description
Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) is the largest Coca-Cola bottler in Africa, accounting for 40% of all Coca-Cola volumes on the continent. In Uganda, we are currently seeking to recruit a Workshop Artisan, based at our Kampala Plant.
As a Workshop Artisan, you will report directly to the Utilities Controller.
The Workshop Artisan supports manufacturing operations by fabricating and repairing equipment components, providing machining and welding services, refurbishing rotable spares, and assisting with maintenance and shutdown activities. The role ensures workshop standards are maintained and contributes to continuous improvement and food safety compliance.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Provide technical support to packaging lines, especially during breakdowns or absence of Process Artisans.
Assist with ramp-ups after maintenance and participate in cleaning and shutdown activities.
Maintain workshop assets, tools, and environment according to OEM and 5S standards.
Execute machining and refurbishment tasks with precision and quality.
Fit and restore ratable parts on bottling/packaging equipment.
Participate in workshop meetings and communicate effectively with team members.
Apply problem-solving techniques and escalate unresolved issues appropriately.
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
Ensure compliance with food safety (FSSC) and quality standards.
Report any unsafe conditions or quality risks to the EOSH team.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Skills, Experience & Education
Vocational Mechanical Engineering Certificate.
Trade Tested Accreditation.
Minimum of 5 years as an engineering artisan.
At least 3 years in a workshop or processing environment.
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving ability.
Teamwork and coaching skills.
Resilient, energetic, and results driven.
Decisive and pragmatic in risk management.
