Position: Wildlife and Conservation Intern

Eligibility: Ugandan nationals aged 18–30

Position Overview

The Wildlife and Conservation Intern will support the implementation of conservation projects aimed at protecting Uganda’s rich natural heritage. This role offers practical experience in biodiversity conservation, sustainable resource management, and community engagement. The intern will assist conservation teams in carrying out environmental awareness, outreach activities, and supporting the management of protected wildlife areas.

How to Apply

  • Support wildlife teams in planning and implementing conservation initiatives.

  • Assist in supervising sustainable management of natural resources in designated wildlife protected areas.

  • Collaborate with conservation teams to design and implement youth engagement programs.

  • Help manage and mentor environmental groups.

  • Work with communications staff to liaise with communities and document impacts of livelihood investments within the project landscapes.

  • Contribute to writing activity reports and provide data for WWF technical progress updates.

  • Undertake other conservation-related duties as assigned by WWF Uganda and the supervisor.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Management, Natural Resources Management, Forestry, Environmental Science, Tourism, or related fields.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently within project areas.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and participate in community activities.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment.

  • Good planning, organizational, and coordination abilities.

  • Fluency in Runyakitara is an advantage.
