Uganda National Meteorological Authority (UNMA) is a Statutory Body established by UNMA Act, 2012. The Act empowers UNMA to provide for the control and development of technically sound and scientific meteorological services in Uganda.



The Authority seeks to recruit competent and well-motivated Ugandans to fill the following vacant position of WEATHER OBSERVER (6)

The positions are contractual, subject to renewal upon satisfactory performance and Rationalization of Government Agencies

JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION FOR THE POSITION OF WEATHER OBSERVER
Job Title: Weather Observer (6 Positions)
Sablary Scale: A7b
Rebports to: Senior Weather Observer
Agbe: 23-55 Years

JOB PURPOSE
To support planning, coordination and implementation of decisions on procurement of equipment and instruments for calibration systems and enforcement of safety and security of instruments/equipment at the station

  • Familiarity with weather simulation and forecasting software.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with meteorological equipment.

  • Effective problem-solving skills to address unexpected weather phenomena.

  • Clear and concise communication skills for reporting weather conditions.

  • Ability to convey complex weather information to non-specialists.

  • Dependability in consistently monitoring and reporting weather conditions.

  • Strong sense of responsibility in providing accurate and timely weather data.

  • Flexibility to work in various weather conditions and environments.

  • Physical ability to perform tasks that may involve working outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Stamina to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Educational Background:

  • Formal education in meteorology, atmospheric science, or a related field.

  • Ongoing commitment to continuing education and staying updated with advancements in meteorology.
