About the Organisation
The Makueni County Public Service Board (MCPSB) was established under Section 57 of the County Governments Act, 2012. Inaugurated on 5th August 2013, the Board is a corporate body with perpetual succession and a common seal, capable of suing and being sued in its name. It comprises a Chairman, five Board Members, and a Secretary, all appointed by the Governor. The Board’s mandate is to establish and manage a competent, professional, and efficient public service that delivers services and drives socio-economic development in Makueni County.

Job Description
The intern will gain practical exposure to water services and engineering operations under the guidance of senior engineers and departmental supervisors. This includes assisting in surveying, design, implementation, and evaluation of water projects. The internship is designed to provide hands-on skills to graduates in water and civil engineering, while also contributing to the county’s water and sanitation development goals.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Support in planning, design, and supervision of water and sanitation projects.
Assist in carrying out surveys and feasibility studies for new water projects.
Monitor and report on the implementation progress of ongoing projects.
Participate in inspections and maintenance of county water infrastructure.
Support documentation, data collection, and technical reporting.
Work with community stakeholders to ensure sustainability of water initiatives.
Carry out any other related duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Water Engineering from a recognized institution; OR
Diploma in Civil/Water Engineering from a recognized institution.
Proficiency in computer applications (engineering design software is an added advantage).
Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Commitment to high ethical and professional standards.
