Job Description
The technician will be stationed in Entebbe, Uganda, and will carry out advanced diagnostic work and repairs on electrical and electronic vehicle systems. Key duties include using diagnostic tools, guiding and training workshop personnel, identifying correct spare parts, contributing to workshop performance reporting, implementing safety procedures, and supporting the procurement and maintenance of diagnostic tools and systems. The technician will also work closely with the Motor Transport Officer to manage operational efficiency and staff development.
This assignment is part of the UN Volunteer Specialist Programme and aims to support peacekeeping operations through enhanced transport services.

How to Apply
Provide technical support to workshop staff.
Participate in the acquisition and upgrade of diagnostic tools and ECU software.
Identify and requisition correct spare parts for repairs.
Monitor spare parts usage and generate service reports.
Deliver training and capacity-building to national staff.
Guide staff on the use of Special Service Tools (SSTs).
Prepare documentation for vehicle write-offs.
Ensure compliance with safety standards in workshop operations.
Prepare performance and activity reports.
Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Motor Transport Officer.
Minimum Requirements:
Technical/vocational diploma in electrical/electronic field.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in vehicle repair and diagnostics.
Experience with onboard diagnostic scanners and reading wiring diagrams.
Valid driving license (Category B mandatory; C desirable).
Fluent in English; working knowledge of French is desirable.
Computer literacy in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP/Umoja and vehicle diagnostic software is desirable.
Desirable Competencies:
Knowledge of ECU programming and CAN bus systems.
Experience with hydraulic systems.
Prior experience with UN agencies or peacekeeping missions.
Strong planning, communication, teamwork, and training skills.
Commitment to UN core values and volunteerism principles.
