Job Description
As a Tutor at Dojo Tutor, you will conduct fun, focused, one-on-one online lessons in math and/or reading using Zoom. You’ll work with students from pre-K to 9th grade, adapting your approach to each learner’s needs. ClassDojo handles scheduling, payments, and client matching, allowing you to focus on teaching. Tutors are expected to commit at least 5 hours per week and provide consistent, engaging instruction while communicating progress to families. This is a contract-based, remote position.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Deliver 1:1 online tutoring sessions in reading, writing, and/or math
Personalize lesson content based on student needs and learning goals
Use modern teaching techniques such as phonics, number sense, and Common Core methods
Engage students in joyful, focused learning experiences
Communicate student progress and feedback to families
Support new families in subscribing to tutoring services
Maintain a reliable and distraction-free environment for video calls
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Experience working with children in educational or mentoring settings
Familiarity with teaching strategies for early education and elementary to middle school students
Strong communication and rapport-building skills
A quiet, professional setup for virtual lessons
Passion for supporting children's academic and personal growth
Backgrounds as paraprofessionals, education majors, substitute teachers, tutors, childcare providers, or mentors are encouraged
