Job Description
Position Title: Treasury Supervisor
Location: Head Office – Kampala, Uganda

Reports to: Finance Manager
As part of its ongoing expansion and strategic growth, Yako Bank is looking to hire a highly motivated and results-driven Treasury Supervisor to join its dynamic team.
Role Overview
The Treasury Supervisor is responsible for managing the Bank’s foreign exchange operations, overseeing liquidity levels, investing surplus funds in the money market, and supporting the development and execution of treasury sales strategies. This role ensures the Bank’s treasury activities are both profitable and compliant with regulatory and internal policies.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Liquidity & Investment Management
Monitor cash and bank balances to ensure efficient liquidity management.
Maintain and update the investment schedule.
Invest surplus funds in the money market while balancing profitability and liquidity.
Ensure strict compliance with internal cash management policies.
Foreign Exchange Trading
Execute FX transactions for both wholesale and retail clients.
Monitor and manage the Bank’s FX position in collaboration with the Treasury Dealer.
Maintain a strong database of FX clients and ensure ongoing relationship management.
Market Analysis & Strategy
Conduct market research to monitor trends in FX, interest rates, and macroeconomic indicators.
Analyze market movements to guide trading decisions and sales strategies.
Negotiate competitive pricing for both assets and liabilities.
Sales & Business Development
Develop and implement sales plans to grow the FX and fixed income client base.
Work closely with branch teams to identify and convert potential clients.
Engage in business networking to expand the Bank’s customer portfolio.
Risk Management
Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to treasury operations and trading activities.
Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal risk frameworks.
Reporting & Compliance
Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on treasury operations.
Maintain compliance with Bank of Uganda regulations and internal audit requirements.
Provide regular updates on market conditions and sales performance to senior management.
Client Relationship Management
Deliver high-quality customer service by promptly addressing client inquiries.
Enhance client satisfaction through clear communication and consistent follow-up.
Team Collaboration
Work closely with internal departments including Finance, Compliance, Risk, and Branch Operations to achieve treasury objectives.
Collaborate with research and trading teams to align on market strategies.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized institution.
Professional certification such as ACI or other treasury qualifications is an added advantage.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a treasury function within a financial institution.
Proven ability to manage FX transactions, client portfolios, and treasury sales pipelines.
Key Competencies

Solid understanding of foreign exchange markets and liquidity management.
Excellent sales and customer relationship management abilities.

Strong networking and communication skills.
Good working knowledge of banking systems and Microsoft Office tools.
