Job Description
The Trade Finance & Export Partnerships Manager will lead the acquisition and support of exporters, especially in high-potential sectors such as floriculture, coffee, tea, apparel, and agriculture. The role entails managing key relationships with exporters and trade-related institutions, structuring invoice financing, payment acceleration, and FX products, while providing insights on exporter needs and market opportunities. The manager will ensure compliance with CBK regulations, coordinate with internal product and compliance teams, and deliver measurable growth in export-related revenue.

How to Apply
Client Acquisition: Source, onboard, and manage relationships with exporters, focusing on key sectors (floriculture, coffee/tea, apparel, handicrafts, agriculture).
Partnership Development: Build partnerships with export promotion agencies, chambers of commerce, freight forwarders, and trade associations.
Deal Structuring: Collaborate with product and credit teams to create tailored trade finance and FX solutions.
Market Intelligence: Provide actionable insights on exporter pain points, competitor offerings, and areas for Umba to differentiate.
Compliance Liaison: Ensure onboarding processes align with CBK FX rules and export documentation requirements.
Revenue Growth: Drive measurable inflows, meet retention targets, and contribute to overall export finance growth.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in trade finance, SME banking, or exporter relations.
Strong network of exporters in target industries.
Proven experience in structuring trade finance products or cross-border payments.
Familiarity with CBK regulations on FX and export documentation.
Skills & Competencies
Strong negotiation, relationship management, and communication skills.
Proven track record of achieving and exceeding commercial targets.
Analytical and problem-solving ability with strong commercial awareness.
Nice-to-have: Experience with digital trade finance platforms (dltledgers, Bolero, Komgo) or familiarity with blockchain-based cross-border payments.
