Job Description
The program is aimed at equipping unemployed graduates with work readiness skills along the tourism value chain by promoting employment-based skilling, reskilling and upskilling in line with the Uganda National Apprenticeship Framework (UNAF 2018), the Employment Act (2006), the Employment Regulations (2011 and the National Employment Policy of Uganda (2011) The Program is national in character targeting interested individuals from across the country.
The Permanent Secretary, MoTWA invites suitably qualified Ugandans who satisfy the criteria to apply for« one year on the job training opportunity leading to the award of UVTAB level II Certificate The program will commence in April 2026.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Accompany tourists and visitors on guided tours to various tourism destinations.
- Provide accurate, engaging, and professional information about Uganda’s wildlife, culture, heritage, tourism sites, and attractions.
- Assist in planning tour itineraries and ensuring smooth visitor experiences.
- Promote responsible tourism practices and environmental conservation awareness.
- Ensure visitors’ comfort, safety, and satisfaction during tours.
- Maintain records of visitors and tour activities as required.
- Demonstrate hospitality etiquette and excellent customer care.
- Support tourism enterprises with front office and visitor handling activities where required.
- Uphold professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and positive representation of Uganda’s tourism industry.
- Participate actively in mentorship sessions, training assessments, and continuous learning activities throughout the apprenticeship.
