Temporary Drivers - Kampala job at Oxfam Novib Uganda

Oxfam Novib Uganda

  • Oxfam Novib Uganda is looking for Temporary Driver (4 Positions).

  • Duty Station: Kampala, Arua, Mbale and Kyaka

  • Type of appointment: Temporary Contract

  • Contract duration: 12 Months, With Possibility of renewal depending on budget and performance

  • Work schedule: Full-time 40 hours per week

  • Reports to: Logistics Officer

  • Salary & Scale: E2

  • Start date: As soon as possible

  • Deadline for applications: October 24th, 2024

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Technical: 

  • Driving project Oxfam staff, visitors or other authorized persons to and from various points while observing and adhering to the standard safety precautions.

  • Maintaining proper vehicle mileage and usage records as per requirements.

  • Conducting daily vehicle maintenance checks to ensure that the vehicle is in good condition including the general cleanliness to uphold the image of the organization.

  • Delivering and collecting mails and other documents to and from various offices required.

  • Maintaining punctuality and courtesy and adhering to traffic laws and regulations.

  • Maintaining confidentially of Oxfam information at all times while executing duties.

 

Administration:

  • Keeping and maintaining proper documentation of all necessary vehicle documents such as insurance, registration documents, travel requests, vehicle logbook, discharge of responsibility form by all non-Oxfam passengers.

  • Carrying correctly filled in and signed waybills whenever goods are transported.

  • Assisting in basic local purchases and general logistic activities on request.

 

Mechanical:

  • Immediately reporting of any technical failure or damage and need for maintenance to the appropriate member of staff.

  • Keeping track of the scheduled service time of the vehicle, in order to make sure that servicing is performed in time.

  • Accurately filling in the vehicle logbook after performing service checks and/or repair activities of the vehicles

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

 

  • Of course, you have a Valid driving licence, sound driving skills and experience of 3 years preferably in an NGO environment. You have a defensive driving certificate which is an added advantage. You have sufficient spoken English and local languages is an added advantage. You have a basic tractor servicing and maintenance skills. Flexibility and willingness to work long hours. You pay attention to detail. You have the ability to organise and prioritise work. You have a good interpersonal skills and ability to relate well with co-workers and other stake holders. Commitment to Oxfam’s overall aims and policies and experience of promoting interests of marginalized people in all aspects of Oxfam’s work.
