Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting BASF’s broad acre crop portfolio through technical demonstrations, farmer capacity building, and market development initiatives. This includes mapping and managing farmer databases, running demo trials, executing farmer loyalty programs, resolving product issues, and providing continuous agronomic guidance from land preparation to harvest. The role will collaborate closely with regional sales managers and marketing teams to ensure accurate product delivery, performance insights, and customer satisfaction. This position requires strong agronomy expertise, hands-on field experience, and a passion for empowering farmers and driving sustainable crop production.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Deliver technical product and crop training to sales teams
Map broad acre farmers and maintain an active farmer database
Build and lead farmer clubs and loyalty programs
Conduct daily field visits, diagnose farmer needs, and recommend solutions
Support order fulfillment and ensure timely product delivery in collaboration with RSMs
Provide technical support throughout the crop cycle, from land preparation to harvest
Manage demo trials and pre-launch trial programs, including reporting and performance summaries
Collect farmer testimonials and support marketing initiatives
Address and resolve farmer complaints promptly and professionally
Compile technical trial data and generate commercial insights for sales and marketing teams
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Academic Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or Agriculture
Experience & Technical Skills
Minimum 5 years’ experience in the broad acre crop segment in Kenya
Strong agronomy and crop protection knowledge, particularly in row crops
Proven ability to manage farmer relationships and provide tailored agronomic solutions
Strong analytical and entrepreneurial mindset
Technical problem-solving ability and high business acumen
High integrity, professionalism, and strong communication skills
