Job Description

The Studio Technician will oversee the setup, operation, and maintenance of media production equipment, including cameras, lighting, and audio systems. They will assist lecturers and students in studio-based projects, ensuring technical excellence in recording, editing, and post-production. The role also requires proficiency in industry-standard editing software, color grading, and audio mixing tools. The successful candidate should be detail-oriented, organized, and able to work collaboratively under tight schedules to meet project deadlines.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain studio equipment including cameras, lighting, and audio systems.

  • Provide technical support for photography, videography, and broadcasting projects.

  • Assist lecturers and students with studio operations and production assignments.

  • Manage the setup and breakdown of studio equipment before and after sessions.

  • Edit and produce high-quality audio and video content using professional software.

  • Perform color correction, sound balancing, and post-production tasks.

  • Maintain an inventory of studio equipment and ensure proper storage and functionality.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure smooth workflow during shoots and editing sessions.

  • Collaborate with media and academic teams to ensure creative and technical excellence.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Media Technology, Photography, Broadcast Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in studio operations, photography, and videography.

  • Proficiency in editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, and After Effects.

  • Strong understanding of color grading and audio mixing tools.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines.

  • A keen eye for detail, creativity, and technical precision.
