Job Description
This role involves working closely with students, faculty, alumni, and industry partners to provide career guidance, placement support, and professional development opportunities. The officer will maintain placement databases, coordinate career events, provide counseling on resumes and interview skills, and develop materials to guide students in their career paths. Additionally, the role includes monitoring student internships, collecting feedback, and ensuring alignment with BIHC’s mission and industry standards.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Advise and guide students on internships and employment opportunities aligned with their career goals.
Maintain and update the internship and placement database; prepare periodic reports.
Coordinate career events, forums, mentorship sessions, and pre-internship orientations.
Identify and facilitate eligible students for internships and job placements.
Provide career counseling, including resume writing, interview preparation, and workplace professionalism.
Develop and publish internship handbooks, career guidelines, and informational materials.
Establish and maintain partnerships with employers, government agencies, and corporate organizations.
Monitor and support students during internships for positive learning experiences.
Collect and analyze employer and graduate feedback to improve placement services.
Collaborate with faculty and administration to ensure students are prepared for externship and job opportunities.
Supervise the Placement & Career Service Assistant.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications:
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Career Development, HR, Education, Hospitality Management, Social Sciences, Psychology, Business Administration, or related fields.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years’ experience in student placement, career services, counseling, or related higher education functions.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong communication, networking, presentation, and organizational skills.
Proficient in computer applications, career services software, and virtual learning platforms (e.g., Moodle).
Knowledge of hospitality industry trends and management functions.
Ability to liaise effectively with employers and stakeholders.
Capability to develop and deliver presentations, gather and analyze data, and evaluate student records.
Flexibility to travel as required.
