The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Limited is a limited liability company fully owned by the Government of Uganda. It was established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream Storage) Act, both enacted in 2013, and incorporated under the Companies Act, 2012.
UNOC is mandated to manage the State’s commercial interests in Uganda’s oil and gas sector, ensuring sustainable exploitation of petroleum resources.

Job Title: Strategy Specialist – Support Functions (Re-advertised)

Reports to: Corporate Strategy Manager
Job Purpose:
To support the development, execution, monitoring, and evaluation of strategic plans for UNOC’s support functions, ensuring alignment with the company’s integrated business strategy.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Support the formulation of strategies for support departments by coordinating all relevant activities including data collection, stakeholder consultations, research, and benchmarking.
Develop strategic planning frameworks, tools, and related processes for effective strategy execution.
Serve as the focal point for monitoring and evaluating performance against agreed KPIs for support functions.
Conduct research on competitor activities, market trends, and business opportunities to inform strategic decisions.
Coordinate the preparation and submission of periodic progress reports aligned with departmental strategic plans.
Assist department heads in aligning their operational plans with UNOC’s overarching Business Plan.
Facilitate internal strategy reviews, ensuring strategic initiatives are executed within agreed timelines, budgets, and specifications.
Support research on industry trends and operational environments to inform strategic planning and implementation.
Lead the periodic review and refinement of functional strategies to maintain alignment with UNOC’s corporate objectives.
Coordinate the development and harmonization of annual work plans by consolidating inputs from all support functions.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A Bachelor’s degree (Honors) in Engineering, Accounting & Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
Professional certification in Strategy Management (e.g., Balanced Scorecard – BSC, Strategy Management Professional – SMP, Strategic Planning Professional – SPP) is an added advantage.
At least six (6) years of relevant experience in a reputable organization, with three (3) years specifically in:
Strategy Development and Management
Business Planning, Analysis & Reporting
Performance Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
Demonstrated experience using strategic models and frameworks is an added advantage.
Skills & Competencies
Strong capability in strategy implementation, tracking, and reporting.
Excellent business acumen and analytical thinking.
Proven problem-solving skills and ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
Strong research skills with the ability to present findings clearly and concisely.
Demonstrated leadership in managing change and fostering collaboration.
Effective conflict resolution skills and ability to facilitate win-win outcomes.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
Ability to translate complex information into business-relevant insights.
