Job Description
Bill Studios is looking for a Stage Light Rigger and Programmer to join their creative production team in Lagos. The role involves setting up, maintaining, and operating lighting equipment for various media projects, including film, television, and live events. The successful candidate will ensure high-quality visual effects while maintaining strict safety standards.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Inspecting and preparing loads to be moved, estimating size, shape, weight, and determining the type of equipment needed.
- Setting up, maintaining, and dismantling light fixtures, lighting control devices, and associated electrical and rigging equipment used for photography, television, film, video, and live productions.
- Setting up, aligning, leveling, and anchoring heavy equipment machinery, including erecting cranes, mobile booms, or temporary structures like scaffolding.
- Rigging, programming, monitoring, repairing, and operating lighting equipment to enhance events and performances, including loading in equipment, organizing cables, hanging lights (which may involve climbing), and focusing fixtures.
- Preparing and operating the lighting system for productions, creating lighting effects based on designs from the Lighting Designer, and using manual or computer-controlled systems during shows.
- Assessing the safety of wiring and equipment setups to prevent risks like fire or electrical shock, and keeping all lighting gear in good, safe working condition.
- Disassembling and storing equipment after performances, and handling post-production tasks like installing temporary electrical power systems.
- Dismantling and storing rigging equipment after use, reporting safety issues, and adhering to occupational health and safety procedures.
