Job Description
As a Software Engineering Intern, you will collaborate with teammates to design and build innovative software solutions. You will apply engineering principles, learn and adopt emerging technologies, and contribute to the development of next-generation software. The role involves providing technical guidance to Technical Program Managers and Product Managers, ensuring product quality, and learning industry best practices. Interns at Microsoft engage in impactful work, gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies, and are supported in building their careers in a fun and inclusive environment.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Apply engineering principles to solve complex technical problems.
Work with stakeholders to determine user requirements for features.
Learn new engineering methods and incorporate them into work processes.
Seek feedback and apply best practices to improve technical solutions.
Demonstrate effective time management in team-based project delivery.
Review new developments and proactively adopt knowledge to enhance product performance, reliability, and scalability.
Drive consistency in monitoring, observability, and operations at scale.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Required Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
Must have at least one semester/term remaining after internship.
Minimum of 1 year programming experience in an object-oriented language.
Legally authorized to work in Kenya (citizenship, visa, or work permit).
Fluency in English.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.
Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies.
