Job Description
This role is part of Capitec’s core payments team, which engineers the real-time infrastructure behind EFTs, card transactions, and ATM/POS integrations. You will design, build, test, and maintain server-side components, ensuring high availability, reliability, and scale. You will also work with ACI Postilion SDK to implement secure transaction flows, cryptographic tools, and compliance with global payment standards (ISO8583, EMV). The position requires close collaboration with architects, analysts, and developers to deliver mission-critical systems, while applying Agile and DevOps practices for continuous delivery and improvement.

How to Apply
Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain server-side applications using modern back-end frameworks.
Build custom modules with ACI Postilion SDK to support card/EFT switching and payments infrastructure.
Implement solutions compliant with ISO8583 protocols, EMV standards, and card/EFT transaction flows.
Work with cryptographic tools and HSMs (MACs, 3DES, DUKPT key management).
Optimise databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or similar) for performance and reliability.
Design and integrate RESTful APIs into secure back-end systems.
Deploy and manage microservices and event-driven architectures on Kubernetes and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).
Apply best practices in algorithms, data structures, testing, and version control.
Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams and participate in DevOps pipelines.
Troubleshoot, enhance, and ensure resilience of high-availability payment systems.
Qualifications (Minimum)
Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational.
Qualifications (Ideal/Preferred)
Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology.
Experience
3+ years’ proven experience in back-end software development (with relevant frameworks and languages).
4+ years’ hands-on ACI Postilion SDK development (Realtime or Office).
Strong skills in Java development and understanding of ISO8583.
Practical exposure to EFT, ATM/POS integration, EMV standards.
Experience working with HSMs and cryptographic tools.
Knowledge of SQL databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
Knowledge
IT systems development lifecycle (SDLC).
Advanced programming concepts, algorithms, and design patterns.
Database query optimisation (SQL/NoSQL).
RESTful API design and integration.
Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
Microservices and event-driven architectures.
Containerisation and Kubernetes deployment.
