Job Description
The Sociologist will play a key role in ensuring community participation and managing the social aspects of infrastructure projects. The role involves conducting Social Impact Assessments (SIA), preparing resettlement plans, and supporting the inclusion of community perspectives in road development initiatives. The position is project-based and subject to contract renewal based on performance and project progression.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Coordinate and facilitate participation of local communities in road maintenance and development projects.
Conduct Social Impact Assessment (SIA) studies for the assigned infrastructure projects.
Develop and implement Resettlement Action Plans (RAP) in alignment with regulatory requirements.
Engage with community leaders and stakeholders to ensure inclusive development.
Address social concerns and grievances related to road projects.
Provide periodic reports on social performance indicators and progress.
Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Project Manager.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Must be a Tanzanian citizen.
Bachelor’s degree in Social Welfare, Sociology, Psychology, Guidance and Counselling, or a related field from a recognized institution.
Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in social work, community engagement, or related field.
Experience in conducting Social Impact Assessments (SIA) and developing Resettlement Plans is an added advantage.
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a field setting.
Proficiency in both English and Kiswahili.
