Job Description
The Settlement and Reconciliations Officer is responsible for resolving all reconciliation issues arising from transactions and performing automated back-office processing such as dispute processing, settlement, reconciliation and reporting.
The job holder is also tasked with supporting the company towards meeting its growth targets in line with the laid down policies, processes, and procedures.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Reconcile and verify all settlement files obtained from the Shared Agent Banking System (SABS) prior to settlement.
- Report all inconsistencies realized during verification and reconciliation of the settlement files to the Technical team and line manager for resolution prior to actual settlement.
- Send ABC Commission settlement files to Bank of Uganda (BOU) settlement team by 10:00am and the rest of the bank settlement files by 12:00pm.
- Liaise with BOU National Payments Team to communicate any settlement-related operations.
- Review and capture all transaction claims (bank reversals) in SABS for onward settlement.
- Coordinate with Customer Experience teams to communicate transaction claims (bank reversals) successfully processed and settled.
- Coordinate with Reconciliation teams of participating member banks to address their reconciliation issues and provide support in a timely manner.
- Compile all day’s transaction vouchers and records and file them accordingly.
- Support with processing of third-party business needs relating to settlement and reconciliation.
- Adhere to key processes in line with the respective job requirements to achieve high levels of operational efficiency.
- Identify process gaps in key areas and suggest remedial measures to address the gaps.
- Effective teamwork to ensure that ABC’s operational excellence is achieved through collaboration.
- Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
