Senior Manager - Project Implementation (Facilities, and None Capex projects) job at MTN Uganda
MTN Uganda
The incumbent will be responsible for providing direction, oversight, and outcome of the Program (multiple projects) within MTN Uganda. This is done in compliance to the Value Based capital Allocation Manual / Toolkit. The incumbent will have a specific focus on IT and None capex projects.
Approval of projects planning documentation
Support projects spend approval process in line with the Capex Projects Master Toolkit
Ensure approval off project specifications/requirements for none Capex projects.
Allocation of Project managers for the implementation of planned and approved Capex projects
Manage contractors regarding projects execution.
Project execution process management
Liaise with project stakeholders in project delivery.
Liaise with different sections/ departments in project execution.
Support project managers in resolving/managing project plans, project risks and issues
Quality Assurance
Oversee Project handover and acceptance from contractors.
Ensure timely project reporting i.e. weekly, monthly, etc.
Ensure post-project appraisal is conducted.
Manage Project resource management.
Ensure handover of all completed Projects to the respective internal customers
Ensure project timelines with full interdependence in the project activities.
Properly Manage Project Procurement
Properly Manage Project Contracts
Ensure proper filing and record/documentation custody for all projects.
Coordinate with audit personal to ensure adherence to best practice.
Key Performance Areas of the Job:
Manage the project life cycle for both CAPEX and None CAPEX projects within MTN Uganda
Ensure projects are executed using best practice Project management guidelines.
Provide project management support to the business in terms of prioritizing and Implementation of projects to support the company strategy and Marketing Road map
Ensure management of projects dependencies for timely project delivery.
Project stakeholder management
Ensure Regular Project tracking, reporting and escalation in line with Business requirements
Ensure that all projects are implemented within specified timelines and within Quality Plan
Manage Project risks, project procurement, project contracts, Project Human resources, project documentation, project tender and evaluation process.
Manage key vendors in the course of project execution
Ensure handover of all completed Projects to the respective internal customers
Put in place Succession plan within the section.
In liaison with HR, identify skills and competencies for Job roles and ensure appropriate training, Supervision and motivation of project managers
Assist by way of facilitation project scooping and planning sessions both at departmental and division level
Develop teams on Project Management competencies by providing guidance during the project life cycle
Attendance of CPSC to ensure alignment of projects to MTNU strategic plan

BSC Degree in Electrical, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer science or relevant University Degree
Recognized Certification in Project management e.g., PMI/Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management
Work Experience
8 years’ experience in telecom-based Environment
Experience in program management
Further qualifications in Contract management, Tender process or Project management
Demonstrated leadership experience in managing a department or section or teams
Attributes and Skills Necessary
Computer Literacy with emphasis on project management packages MS project.
Good Communication and Supervisory skills
Good analytical skills
Comfortable around senior management
Good Interpersonal Skills and Initiative
Leadership and organization
