Job Description
The role will involve developing the Bank’s training and development strategy, conducting training needs assessments, and implementing structured learning programs to bridge skills gaps. The manager will oversee induction, leadership development, succession planning, and mentorship initiatives. In addition, the role will ensure compliance with Bank of Tanzania training requirements, manage external training partnerships, and represent TCB in professional forums. The position requires strong leadership to mentor the Training & Development team and drive innovation through modern training methods, including digital platforms.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and implement the Bank’s training and development strategy in line with corporate objectives.
Conduct training needs assessments (TNA) to identify skill and competency gaps.
Prepare annual training plans and budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and return on investment.
Design, coordinate, and monitor training programs (internal, external, and e-learning).
Facilitate leadership development initiatives, including coaching, mentorship, and succession planning.
Deliver induction and orientation programs for new employees.
Formulate and update training policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with Bank of Tanzania (BoT) requirements, including preparation of regulatory training reports.
Monitor, evaluate, and report on training effectiveness and business impact.
Engage internal stakeholders to align training interventions with business priorities.
Manage relationships with training providers, consultants, and professional institutions.
Represent TCB in professional workshops, forums, and conferences.
Lead, mentor, and supervise the Training & Development team.
Drive innovation through adoption of digital learning platforms and modern training practices.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education
Master’s degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Industrial Relations, Human Resource Planning, Human Resource Management, Sociology, Political Science, Commerce, or Business Administration (HRM specialization) from a recognized institution.
Experience
At least 13 years of working experience in a related HR or training role.
Professional Certifications (Added Advantage)
Training/Learning & Development, Coaching, or HR certifications such as CIPD, SHRM, or IHRM.
Skills & Competencies
Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
Excellent influencing, negotiation, and communication skills.
Strong research and evaluation skills in training options and methods.
Proven leadership and team management experience.
Ability to prioritize, work under pressure, and deliver consistently.
Fluent in English and Kiswahili.
High integrity, sound judgment, and confidentiality.
