Job Description
The Senior Manager – Strategy Business Partner will support the Head of Strategy in shaping MTN SA’s medium- to long-term corporate strategy, coordinating planning sessions, and advising on business environment changes. The role requires conducting global trend analysis, providing competitor intelligence, and supporting new product development, diversification, and market penetration initiatives. Responsibilities include managing strategy governance calendars, facilitating planning workshops, and ensuring alignment across the business units. The manager will also oversee KPIs, scenario planning, reporting, and performance tracking while resolving escalations and identifying profitable growth opportunities. In addition, the role involves structuring and leading cross-functional initiatives, integrating strategic initiatives into budgets, and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders to identify market trends and partnership opportunities.

How to Apply
Support Head of Strategy in developing corporate strategy and business plans.
Coordinate and manage annual planning processes and strategy calendars.
Provide insights on external/internal environment changes impacting strategy.
Conduct competitive intelligence and global trend analysis to drive sustainable growth.
Facilitate governance structures, strategy workshops, and knowledge exchange forums.
Define and monitor KPIs, ensuring alignment with the “Balanced Scorecard.”
Resolve and escalate issues impacting strategic delivery.
Lead cross-functional strategy projects, identifying risks and setting mitigation plans.
Manage strategy-related reporting (annual BU reports, monthly/ad hoc updates).
Monitor budgets for projects and initiatives in line with business objectives.
Align business unit strategies with overall MTN corporate strategy.
Maintain relationships with industry experts and stakeholders for insights and partnerships.
Recommend profitable growth strategies and ensure continuous assessment of strategic drivers.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree (essential).
Postgraduate qualification (CA, Honours, Masters, or MBA) is essential.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a technology-dependent industry or business environment.
At least 5 years’ experience in strategic planning, financial planning, and budgeting.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong knowledge of strategic planning and governance.
Ability to conduct scenario planning, forecasting, and competitor analysis.
Excellent facilitation, project management, and leadership skills.
Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Financial acumen and business case development.
Ability to manage cross-functional teams and drive strategic initiatives.
Relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
