Job Description

The Senior Information Systems Assistant will support the design, development, testing, and maintenance of computer applications and systems. Responsibilities include troubleshooting application issues, managing technical documentation, conducting feasibility studies, developing workflows, ensuring system security and data recovery, and researching new IT tools and practices. The role requires leading small IT projects, training new staff, supporting data analysis, and contributing to knowledge management and reporting. The incumbent will also assist with web updates, visualizations, and the implementation of innovative IT solutions aligned with UN standards and policies.

How to Apply

  • Provide support for computer information systems, databases, and applications.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex application/system issues.

  • Develop, program, test, debug, and implement new application systems and modules.

  • Design, develop, and maintain computer applications using multiple programming languages.

  • Install and monitor software and hardware systems.

  • Manage and update technical documentation and change management procedures.

  • Assist in refining IT support and operations procedures.

  • Lead small projects including planning, specification, development, implementation, and maintenance.

  • Conduct feasibility studies, systems analysis, and improvements for application systems.

  • Support document workflow analysis, classification, archival procedures, and repository management.

  • Ensure system security, backups, and recovery processes.

  • Draft reports, communications, and work plan revisions.

  • Research new technologies, benchmark, and propose system improvements.

  • Provide training and guidance to junior staff and supervise day-to-day tasks.

  • Support data collection, analysis, visualization, and knowledge sharing.

  • Update web pages, brochures, and related materials.

  • Perform any other related duties as required.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).

  • Supplemental training in information systems or related field (desirable).

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in IT systems analysis, programming, administration, maintenance, or related areas (reduced to 8 years with a first-level university degree).

  • Experience in developing and maintaining web applications within SharePoint on Office 365 (desirable).

  • Experience in an international organization or the UN (desirable).

  • Experience using JavaScript, HTML, and database query languages (desirable).

  • At least 1 year of experience in data analytics or related area (desirable).

Competencies

  • Professionalism: In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, programming, and system development workflows; ability to troubleshoot and innovate.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to tailor information to audiences.

  • Teamwork: Collaborative, open to learning, values others’ input, and supports group decisions.
