Senior Financial Analyst job at Local Government Finance Commission

Local Government Finance Commission

Local Government Finance Commission, established under Article 194 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda and mandated to advise the President on all matters concerning the distribution of revenue between the Government and local governments and the allocation to each local government of monies out of the Consolidated Fund among others.

Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the following vacant position on the new LGFC structure.

Financial Analysis and Reporting

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare detailed financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

  • Variance Analysis: Conduct variance analysis to compare actual results with budgets and forecasts, identifying trends and explaining discrepancies.

  • Performance Metrics: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the organization's financial health and operational efficiency.


Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Annual Budget: Assist in the preparation of the annual budget, working with various departments to gather input and consolidate financial data.

  • Forecasting: Create and update financial forecasts, including revenue, expenses, and capital expenditures, to predict future financial performance.

  • Scenario Analysis: Perform scenario analysis to evaluate the impact of different business strategies and market conditions on financial outcomes.


Strategic Planning

  • Strategic Support: Provide financial analysis and support for strategic initiatives, such as mergers and acquisitions, capital projects, and new business opportunities.

  • Business Cases: Develop detailed business cases for proposed projects, including financial projections, risk assessments, and ROI analysis.

  • Market Analysis: Conduct market analysis to understand industry trends, competitive dynamics, and economic conditions affecting the business.

  • Data Collection: Gather financial and operational data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Education and Experience

  • Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or a related field is typically required. A master's degree (e.g., MBA) or relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is preferred.

  • Experience: Significant experience (typically 5-7 years) in financial analysis, planning, and reporting. Previous experience in a senior or advanced analyst role is essential.

  • Financial Acumen: Deep understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and financial modeling.
