1.0 Invitation to Apply
The Public Service Commission invites applications from qualified serving Public Officers who have been duly appointed and confirmed by their respective Appointing Authorities (National or Local Government Service Commissions) to fill existing vacancies.
All applications must be submitted online by the deadline stated above through the PSC e-recruitment portal.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
The Senior Assistant Accountant will report to the Accountant and perform the following responsibilities:
Maintain custody of accounting records and related documentation
Process deferred tax payments and tax returns, and keep proper records
Post financial transactions in the cashbook and ledgers, and maintain up-to-date books of accounts
Prepare and reconcile payroll transaction reports
Record transactions in the commitment control register
Manage cash/imprest, handle payments, and maintain accurate cashbook records
Prepare monthly draft reconciliation reports
Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must:
Be Ugandan citizens
Hold any of the following qualifications:
Diploma in Accounting
Diploma in Business Studies/Administration (Accounting Option)
Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) along with a pre-professional accounting qualification, such as:
Accounts Technician Certificate (ATC), or
Certificate in Accounting Technician (CAT)
The above must be from a recognized professional body accredited by the Institute of Chartered Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU).
Experience Requirements
A minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience in Government, at the level of Assistant Accountant.

d) If a recommendation cannot be obtained, indicate the reason in your application and proceed with submission.
