Secondary Market Operations Manager Job at Watu Credit Uganda Ltd
Watu Credit Uganda Ltd
Job Description
The Secondary Market Operations Manager is responsible for the performance of Watu’s secondary asset lifecycle following asset recovery, including pricing, refurbishment (for EV assets) and sale of repossessed assets. The role drives effective stock management, pricing discipline, recovery optimization, and operational efficiency to ensure assets are converted into cash or performing loans at optimal margins. It owns Secondary Market Place (SMP) revenue performance while being accountable for associated costs, including write-offs, inventory aging, and warehouse time.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Achieve monthly sales targets for repossessed assets (loan and cash) across all branches
- Monitor stock levels of repossessed assets at branch level and coordinate inter-branch movements based on capacity and market demand while keeping accurate tracking
- Actively reduce aged inventory (90/180+ days) by initiating and executing liquidation strategies, including yard sales, dealer offloads, and branch-level sales activations
- Optimize inventory turnover and minimize value erosion from aging, write-offs, and prolonged warehouse holding
- Engage the Ministry of Works, in coordination with the Head of Mobility and Asset Transfer Manager, to facilitate replacement of missing number plates
- Track and enforce Branch Managers’ accountability for sales performance of repo assets
- Lead and directly manage the Pricing Team with clear KPIs and accountability
- Define and enforce pricing frameworks (min price thresholds, discount bands, approval hierarchies). Ensure 100% pricing SLA adherence for all verified assets
- Conduct market benchmarking (competitor pricing, demand trends, asset condition)
- Balance pricing decisions to optimize sales velocity while minimizing write-offs
- Monitor consistent and accurate price display at the Branch during periodical visits
- Approve and control pricing deviations within defined authority limits
- Drive team productivity (units priced, turnaround time, and pricing accuracy)
- Collaborate actively with the Watu Collections team and with the GOGO team (e.g., GOGO) to monitor Loan portfolio and reduce repossession inflow through targeted upstream interventions (timely repairs, battery swap stability, and issue resolution)
- Oversee assessment, refurbishment, and readiness of repossessed Electric Vehicle assets to support effective resale
- Enforce vendor (e.g. GOGO) accountability on quality, turnaround time, and cost-effectiveness of repairs and refurbishments. Monitor repeat technical issues.
- Ensure repossessed Electric Vehicle assets are positioned for optimal sale through coordination with pricing and sales teams
- Enforce full compliance with SOPs across asset handling, pricing, and release processes
- Ensure end-to-end asset control, including traceability, documentation accuracy, and prevention of loss or unauthorized transactions
- Own and maintain real-time dashboards covering sales, inventory aging, recovery performance, pricing, and EV asset status
- Deliver accurate daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports with clear insights and actions, ensuring data integrity across all systems (MIFOS and related databases)
- Conduct targeted analysis on write-offs, recovery trends, pricing gaps, and operational risks to inform decision-making
- Ensure timely closure of audit findings and compliance gaps in collaboration with Legal, Compliance, and Asset Risk
