We are seeking a qualified Road Safety Engineer to join our team in Uganda. This position plays a crucial role in designing, analyzing, and implementing road safety measures aimed at reducing accidents and enhancing compliance with traffic laws and safety standards.

How to Apply

  • Conduct road safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments on both existing and new infrastructure.

  • Analyze crash data and accident reports to identify high-risk zones (black spots) and recommend safety improvements.

  • Ensure compliance with national road safety laws and regulations through regular audits.

  • Work closely with regulatory authorities, government agencies, and local stakeholders to ensure adherence to safety policies and enforcement protocols.

  • Develop and promote public awareness campaigns focused on road safety.

  • Support the creation and improvement of emergency response plans for road-related incidents.

  • Inspect company and contractor vehicles and equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.

  • Plan and execute road safety initiatives, including trainings, inspections, and awareness campaigns in line with company guidelines.

  • Prepare detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual road safety reports.

  • Identify and report safety risks, mechanical issues, and any non-compliance concerns.

  • Recommend maintenance, repair, or replacement of unsafe vehicles and equipment.

  • Explore and implement smart traffic management systems and AI-driven road safety technologies.

  • Participate in and support emergency drills and response procedures.

  • Conduct thorough incident investigations, identify root causes, and prepare reports.

  • Share case studies and best practices across departments and contractors.

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Road Safety Engineering, or a related field.

  • Certified in Road Safety Audits (RSA) or Traffic Safety Management.

  • Health and Safety certifications such as OSHA, NEBOSH, or IOV (preferred).


Experience & Knowledge

  • Minimum 4 years of professional experience, preferably in the Oil & Gas industry.

  • Proven experience in road safety inspections, vehicle/equipment safety assessments, and accident investigations.

  • In-depth knowledge of Ugandan road safety laws and standards (e.g., Uganda Road Safety Act, 2018, UNRA design standards).

  • Strong understanding of QHSE systems development and review.

  • Familiarity with both Chinese and international HSE laws, regulations, and best practices.

  • Strong grasp of HSE technology and emergency management processes.
