Job Description
The Resident Paediatrician will be responsible for attending to walk-in and referred paediatric patients, resuscitating newborns, and offering consultancy support to doctors across Avenue Healthcare. The role includes running paediatric outpatient clinics, conducting diagnostic, preventative, and interventional care, and performing paediatric procedures with the highest safety and quality standards. The incumbent will ensure accurate documentation, patient/family updates, and family conferences as required. Other responsibilities include facilitating admissions and discharges, mentoring colleagues through CMEs, participating in M&M meetings, supporting Avenue’s Quality Improvement Plans, and ensuring patient satisfaction through communication and engagement. The Paediatrician will also help diversify services, support marketing initiatives, and ensure compliance with financial and authorization requirements.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Attend to walk-in and referred paediatric patients (outpatient and inpatient).
Resuscitate newborns in Theatre and Maternity.
Provide paediatric consultancy to doctors across Avenue Group.
Run paediatric outpatient clinics.
Conduct accurate history-taking, examinations, investigations, and treatment planning.
Counsel patients and families, ensuring compliance and participation in care decisions.
Perform paediatric procedures safely and effectively.
Facilitate admissions, obtain consents, and oversee discharges.
Provide interpretation of investigations and conduct family conferences where necessary.
Participate in ward rounds, patient reviews, resuscitations, M&M meetings, and CMEs.
Mentor colleagues and support capacity building.
Contribute to incident reporting, root cause analysis, and quality improvement plans.
Maintain patient privacy, confidentiality, and satisfaction.
Support service expansion and marketing of new services.
Ensure proper financial processes: pre-authorizations, accurate billing, and documentation.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications
Master of Medicine in Paediatrics.
Specialist recognition in Paediatrics.
Experience
At least 2 years’ post-specialization experience.
Skills & Competencies
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
High attention to detail.

Ability to work under pressure and foster teamwork.
