Job Description
The position involves receiving, screening, and reviewing applications related to health products, clinical trials, and practitioner licensing. Officers will inspect premises and medical products against GxP standards and regulatory frameworks, investigate market complaints, monitor product safety, and contribute to regulatory decision-making through quality management systems. The officers will also support vaccine lot release, enforce regulatory actions, and ensure compliance with Kenyan laws and international best practices.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Receive, screen, and assess dossiers, variation, and retention applications of health products and technologies.
Review and process applications for licensing of premises; inspect premises and products against GxP, laws, and guidelines.
Investigate market complaints, conduct product sampling, and enforce regulatory actions.
Receive, screen, and review clinical trial applications; inspect trial sites and studies.
Collect, analyze, and monitor safety reports related to medical products.
Process applications for licensing of pharmacy practitioners and premises.
Receive, test, and evaluate medical product samples according to standards.
Implement Quality Management Systems (QMS) and benefit-risk strategies in regulatory decision-making.
Receive and review applications for lot release of vaccines and biologicals.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from a recognized university.
Valid practising license from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (Kenya).
Valid membership with the Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya.
Proficiency in computer knowledge and applications.
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Compliance with the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya (integrity, leadership, and accountability).
