Job Description

Reporting to the Range Warden Team Leader (RW TL), the role prepares training areas (ground and helicopter clearances), provides overwatch and fire containment, enforces Range Standing Orders (RSO) for UXO incidents, and operates posts such as Nyati Range Control, OB SWARA, and the Holding Area. You’ll help keep accommodation/ablutions in good order, ensure Safe Place to Train (SPTT) vehicles meet BATUK MT SOs, and support wildfire containment training during RSOI. Occasional interpreting may be required.

How to Apply

  • Clear training areas prior to activities; act as sentry when directed.

  • Conduct helicopter clearance flights as tasked by TSO/TSM.

  • Provide fire containment/overwatch; execute cordon/overwatch for UXO per RSO.

  • Operate control posts (Nyati Range Control, OB SWARA, Holding Area).

  • Maintain assigned SPTT vehicle per BATUK MT SOs.

  • Maintain cleanliness of Range Warden accommodation, ablutions, and rest room.

  • Deliver wildfire containment training during RSOI and act as interpreter when required.

  1. Essential

  2. KCSE Grade D or above.

  3. Good spoken English and Swahili.

  4. IT literate (MS Word).

  5. Physically fit; able to pass medical for role outputs.

  6. Clear, confident radio/phone communication.

  7. Clean, valid Class B Kenyan driving licence.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of local wildlife, flora, and fauna; prior KWS service.
