Job Description
This role involves the routine and non-routine calibration of critical instruments including balances, pH meters, temperature/humidity sensors, HPLC systems, and pressure gauges. The QC Officer – Calibration will ensure that all calibration activities align with cGMP, GLP, ALCOA+ principles, and international standards such as ISO 17025. The position requires coordination with other departments to minimize equipment downtime, proper documentation of calibration activities, and readiness for audits and inspections. The role also includes working with third-party calibration vendors, supporting equipment qualification and validation, and contributing to continuous improvement in calibration practices.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Perform routine and non-routine calibration and verification of laboratory and manufacturing equipment.
Maintain and update the calibration schedule to ensure timely execution of all calibrations.
Document calibration results, certificates, and traceability records in compliance with cGMP and ALCOA+ principles.
Collaborate with equipment users and departments to coordinate calibration activities and reduce operational disruptions.
Investigate and report any out-of-calibration equipment; initiate and monitor corrective actions.
Liaise with third-party calibration providers and manage external calibration documentation.
Support equipment qualification and requalification including validation documentation.
Label equipment appropriately with current calibration status and due dates.
Assist during audits by providing calibration-related documentation and support.
Suggest and implement improvements to calibration procedures and management systems.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Academic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Diploma in Instrumentation, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a closely related technical field.
Experience and Competencies:
3–5 years of relevant experience in a pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing environment.
Practical experience with calibration of laboratory and environmental control equipment.
Familiarity with ICH stability requirements and operation of controlled environmental chambers.
Sound knowledge of cGMP, GLP, GDP, and documentation practices.
Ability to read and interpret monitoring charts and take appropriate actions for deviations.
Detail-oriented, reliable, and capable of working independently.
Experience supporting internal and regulatory audits (NDA, WHO PQ, FDA) is an added advantage.
