Job Description

The Protection Coordinator is responsible for providing oversight on protection programs, ensuring alignment with DRC strategies and donor requirements. The role involves technical assistance, advocacy, coordination with stakeholders, and capacity-building initiatives for protection staff. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and monitoring protection program strategies.

  • Ensuring high-quality implementation of protection projects.

  • Overseeing financial management and donor reporting.

  • Coordinating with stakeholders and advocating for refugee rights.

  • Providing technical guidance and capacity-building support to protection teams.

  • Leading the development of protection-related policies and tools.

How to Apply

Protection Projects and Sector Oversight:

  • Develop protection strategies based on projected funding.

  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor protection projects to ensure compliance with sector and donor requirements.

  • Oversee the protection portfolio, identifying funding and capacity gaps.

  • Conduct regular meetings with Protection Team Leaders to address challenges and provide technical support.

  • Ensure adherence to best practices in protection programming.

  • Prepare project reports, donor proposals, and ensure financial compliance.

  • Collaborate with Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) teams to implement monitoring systems.

  • Support proposal design for protection-related programming.


Technical Support:

  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training materials.

  • Provide technical advice on project work plans and implementation.

  • Assist in developing and updating Monitoring & Evaluation tools.

  • Provide capacity-building training for staff and partners.

  • Develop training and awareness materials on protection issues.

  • Ensure protection mainstreaming across all projects.


Protection Advocacy and Coordination:

  • Finalize and circulate monthly protection reports.

  • Develop analysis and reports on protection concerns.

  • Engage with key stakeholders, including UNHCR, UNICEF, and government agencies.

  • Represent DRC in relevant working groups and coordination meetings.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Social Sciences, Humanitarian Aid, or a related field.

  • Must be Tanzanian.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a humanitarian context.

  • At least 2 years of experience working with an INGO in the field of protection.

  • Knowledge of human rights and international refugee law.


Languages:

  • Proficiency in English and Swahili.

  • Knowledge of Kirundi is an added advantage.
