Job Description
Position: Project Manager – Inclusive Livestock Development for Smallholder Farmers
Organisation: SNV Uganda
Location: Fort Portal, Uganda
Duration: 5-year programme (2024–2029)
Funding Partner: Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN)
About the Project – INCLUDE
Smallholder farmers in Uganda face systemic challenges—persistent poverty, climate shocks, land degradation, and underperforming livestock markets—that hinder income growth and resilience. The Inclusive Livestock Development for Smallholder Farmers (INCLUDE) project addresses these challenges by supporting 75,000 smallholder households across the Busoga, Rwenzori, Greater Ankole, and Kigezi regions.
The project takes a farmer-led, systems-based approach using Participatory Integrated Planning (PIP) to:
Strengthen household-level planning and adaptive capacity
Improve livestock productivity
Promote sustainable land use
Enable access to inclusive markets
Enhance food and nutrition security
This five-year initiative is co-created and implemented with regional teams and partners from government, civil society, and the private sector.
Role Overview
As Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of this flagship initiative, ensuring strategic alignment, operational excellence, and measurable impact. You will manage a diverse team of 32 professionals, oversee stakeholder relations, and serve as the key liaison with the donor (EKN). Based in Fort Portal, your leadership will be instrumental in translating the project’s vision into lasting change for Uganda’s rural communities.
