About the Organisation
The Africa Centre for Energy and Mineral Policy (ACEMP) is a non-profit organization established in 2012, dedicated to promoting good governance, research, capacity building, equity, socio-economic justice, and shared benefits in Uganda’s energy and extractive resource sectors.
ACEMP contributes to Uganda’s National Development Plans, Vision 2040, and the attainment of at least 11 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Our work focuses on three thematic areas:
Mining and Mineral Development (including Oil and Gas)
Renewable Energy, Climate Justice, and Environmental Accountability
Business and Human Rights
ACEMP has received funding from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) through Danida to implement components of the Strengthening Environmental Accountability and Climate Action in West Nile (SEA-WN) Project, under a consortium led by the Rural Initiative for Community Empowerment (RICE) West Nile and the Royal Danish Embassy (RDE).
Project implementation will primarily take place in Nakapiripirit and Amudat Districts, with additional national-level engagements. ACEMP now seeks to recruit a Project Driver to support the efficient and effective delivery of project activities.

Job Description
Project Driver

Location: Uganda

Job Purpose
The Project Driver will be responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation for project staff, materials, and documents, as well as ensuring vehicle maintenance and logistical support for project activities. This position plays a key role in facilitating smooth and timely field operations.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
A) Transportation and Mobility
Safely transport authorized personnel, materials, and documents to assigned destinations.
Plan and follow efficient routes, taking into account road and weather conditions.
Maintain punctuality and reliability in all transportation assignments.
B) Vehicle Maintenance and Management
Keep the assigned vehicle clean, well-maintained, and in roadworthy condition.
Ensure timely renewal of licenses, insurance, and adherence to traffic regulations.
Record vehicle mileage, fuel usage, and maintenance in designated logbooks.

C) Logistical and Operational Support
Assist with loading and offloading of project materials safely and efficiently.
Provide logistical support during field missions, meetings, and stakeholder engagements.
Coordinate with project teams to align transport schedules with operational plans.
D) Professional Conduct and Team Contribution
Uphold high standards of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
Foster positive working relationships with project staff and logistics teams.
Promote ACEMP’s values and uphold its mission at all times.
E) Health, Safety, and Compliance
Adhere strictly to health, safety, and safeguarding protocols.
Ensure passenger safety and vehicle security during all trips.
Respond appropriately to emergencies, including breakdowns or traffic incidents.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE/O-Level) with credits in English and Mathematics.
Valid Ugandan Driving Permit (minimum Class B).
Minimum of 3 years’ professional driving experience, preferably with an organization or company.
Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and mechanical troubleshooting.
Ability to maintain accurate trip, mileage, and fuel records.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic first aid knowledge and emergency preparedness.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours and travel extensively.
Working Conditions
Based in Kampala, with frequent travel to field sites in Karamoja and across Uganda.
Work may involve long hours, travel under varied weather conditions, and limited field infrastructure.
