Job Description
This internship position is located at the UNODC Global Maritime Crime Programme in Nairobi. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the GMCP’s Southern Route and Port Security team. The role includes assisting with project implementation in the Western Indian Ocean Region, supporting workshops and high-level events, contributing to visibility and communications materials, supporting monitoring and evaluation (M&E), and providing administrative support during field missions. The internship requires full professional fluency in French and is conducted on a full-time, in-person basis for six months. It is unpaid.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Assist with planning project activities in the Western Indian Ocean Region
Support preparation and coordination of workshops, meetings, and conferences
Draft website articles, social media posts, and other visibility materials
Attend meetings and take notes
Support monitoring and evaluation (M&E) and reporting tasks
Assist during regional missions, including data collection and administrative work
Draft presentations, briefing notes, letters, and sections of reports
Translate documents and materials as needed
Perform other assigned tasks
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Must be enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree program in a relevant field
Full professional fluency in French and English is required
Strong writing and communication skills
Good command of MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams
Ability to draft communication content for visibility is desirable
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an asset
