It was established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream Storage) Act, both enacted in 2013, and incorporated under the Companies Act, 2012.

Job Title: Products Trading Operations Specialist (1 Vacancy)
Duty Station: Western Kenya – (Kisumu, Nakuru, or Eldoret Terminal)
Reports To: Products Trading Manager
Job Purpose
The Products Trading Operations Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and guiding UNOC’s petroleum logistics and stock operations across the Western Kenya terminals (Kisumu, Nakuru, and Eldoret). The role will work closely with the Products Trading team, Finance Stock Management team, terminal depot managers, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient coordination and execution of bulk trading operations in the region.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Manage customer (OMCs) loading orders in both the ERP and third-party terminal systems (e.g., KPC or private terminals), ensuring timely review and approval for dispatch of paid stock.
Conduct daily stock reconciliations at the designated loading terminals and promptly address any discrepancies or anomalies.
Oversee product dispatch operations to ensure compliance with established safety, quality, and operational standards.
Review and approve truck withdrawal or reallocation requests in collaboration with internal teams.
Develop and refine trading processes and procedures aligned with operational requirements and regulatory compliance.
Coordinate efficient delivery of imported petroleum products, ensuring effective logistics performance across the Western Kenya corridor.
Monitor OMCs’ evacuation performance and recommend strategies to improve throughput and maintain ullage allocations.
Evaluate product loading trends in adjacent markets to identify and propose new trading opportunities.
Lead and participate in terminal safety meetings, ensure QHSSE (Quality, Health, Safety, Security & Environment) compliance, and enforce proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Maintain strong working relationships with external stakeholders including URA, KRA, KPC, terminal operators, and transporters to ensure smooth operational workflows.
Address feedback and resolve operational challenges raised by Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs); represent UNOC in stakeholder engagements as required.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Economics, Statistics, Commerce, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized university.
Specialized training in Petroleum Products Trading is an added advantage.
Working knowledge of HSE principles and practices is desirable.
Familiarity with logistics operations and supply chain management in the petroleum sector is an added advantage.
Minimum of six (6) years of relevant professional experience, with at least three (3) years in the downstream petroleum products business.

Strong operations and logistics management capabilities
Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
In-depth knowledge of the petroleum products industry
Familiarity with customs clearance processes and cross-border logistics
Solid understanding of QHSSE compliance and operational safety standards
Strong communication, interpersonal, and personnel management skills
Demonstrated integrity and commitment to ethical standards
Advanced analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills
Effective critical thinking and decision-making abilities
