Job Description
Job Title: Production and Plant Manager

Location: Namanve, Uganda
Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Production and Plant Manager to lead the operational functions at our Namanve facility. Reporting to the Co-Managing Director, this role is pivotal in ensuring end-to-end operational excellence—from intake to export.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Manage and coordinate all plant operations: intake, milling, warehousing, maintenance, and utilities.
Align production planning with procurement, quality control, logistics, and commercial strategies.
Ensure maximum plant readiness and performance during peak production periods.
Monitor and analyze performance data across the production cycle—from FAQ intake to export.
Process Management
Implement a streamlined, process-driven workflow for the entire operation.
Cross-train line managers (Intake, Factory, Warehouse) to ensure functional flexibility.
Establish, track, and report on KPIs to drive measurable performance improvements.
Quality & Compliance
Enforce strict quality control standards in collaboration with Quality and Procurement teams.
Implement and oversee the 4-eyes principle between intake and the main quality labs.
Ensure full compliance with food safety, occupational health, and environmental regulations.
People & Performance
Lead, develop, and motivate plant supervisors and operational teams.
Conduct structured performance reviews and maintain high levels of staff accountability.
Foster a safe, disciplined, and productive working environment.
Maintenance & Reliability
Supervise mechanics and electricians to ensure timely preventive maintenance.
Optimize equipment uptime and minimize production disruptions.
Continuous Improvement
Champion cost-efficiency projects, process optimization, and waste reduction initiatives.
Lead strategic improvements such as shift design and readiness for 24/7 operations.
Budget & Reporting
Manage operational budgets (maintenance, labor, utilities).
Provide regular performance reports including capacity utilization and bottleneck analysis.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Agribusiness, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 8 years in plant operations or production management, preferably in agri-processing or FMCG.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing and process flow management
Preventive maintenance planning
Familiarity with coffee processing is an added advantage
Leadership:
Proven experience leading multifunctional teams
Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Effective communicator with a high level of integrity and accountability
Language: Fluent in English; knowledge of local languages is an added advantage.
