Job Description
As the East Africa Cluster Lead, the Principal, Services Business Development, will generate and manage revenue opportunities with key regional accounts. The role requires fostering strong, trust-based relationships with client executives while engaging Mastercard stakeholders to deliver measurable value and ROI. Responsibilities include managing the sales pipeline, developing innovative business solutions for complex challenges, and driving post-sales engagement for seamless project delivery. The position demands a proactive approach to identifying client risks and opportunities, optimizing recurring revenues, and exploring cross-sell and up-sell opportunities. The successful candidate will demonstrate strategic thinking, financial acumen, and the ability to influence C-level executives across diverse markets in the region.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Generate and maintain Services revenue opportunities with strategic accounts in East Africa.
Build and nurture strong relationships with client executives and internal Mastercard stakeholders.
Develop innovative solutions for complex business problems across consulting, analytics, loyalty, Test & Learn, and managed services.
Manage the sales pipeline from opportunity identification to approvals, contracts, and delivery.
Monitor and mitigate customer risks while identifying new growth opportunities.
Drive sales and gross revenue growth, including platform and recurring revenue optimization.
Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure high engagement quality and explore cross-sell, add-on, and up-sell opportunities.
Uphold Mastercard’s corporate security responsibilities, ensuring compliance with information security policies.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Proven experience in strategy consulting, preferably within financial institutions and payments.
Strong strategic focus with a solution-oriented approach.
Ability to synthesize data to analyze challenges and identify opportunities.
High-energy, customer-centric, and adaptable in complex environments.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage C-level executives.
Detail-oriented with expertise in data analysis and business case modeling.
Demonstrated ability to balance autonomy with collaboration in a multinational setting.
