The Pharmacist is responsible for providing advanced pharmaceutical care, medication management, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the pharmacy department. This role involves supervising pharmacy technicians and pharmacy staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.

How to Apply
Medication Dispensing and Management:
Review and verify medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and potential interactions.
Ensure the accurate preparation and dispensing of medications to patients.
Monitor medication storage and stability, taking corrective actions as needed.
Clinical Pharmacy Services:
Provide pharmaceutical care and medication therapy management for patients with complex medical conditions.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication regimens and resolve medication-related problems.
Participate in clinical rounds and provide drug information to healthcare teams.
Supervision and Staff Development:
Mentor and supervise junior pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff.
Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and support staff development.
Coordinate and ensure adequate staffing levels for daily operations.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
Ensure pharmacy operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
Oversee the preparation and maintenance of medication-related documentation and records.
Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
Inventory Management:
Manage inventory control, including ordering, receiving, and restocking medications and supplies.
Implement systems to minimize waste, reduce medication shortages, and control costs.
Patient Education and Counseling:
Educate patients on proper medication usage, potential side effects, and adherence.
Provide counseling on over-the-counter medications and other healthcare products.
Continuous Learning and Professional Development:
Stay updated on new pharmaceutical products and advancements in pharmacy practice.
Participate in continuing education and training to maintain licensure and certifications.
Bachelor of Pharmacy from an accredited University.
State licensure as a registered pharmacist with no disciplinary actions.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in a pharmacy/hospital setting, with demonstrated leadership skills.
Strong knowledge of pharmaceuticals, pharmacology, and pharmacy laws and regulations.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions under pressure.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
Board Certification in a pharmacy specialty.
Registered & licensed with the pharmaceutical society of Uganda
Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems and pharmacy automation.
Experience with quality improvement initiatives in a healthcare setting.
