Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Finance & Compliance Manager (with a dotted line to the Grants Manager), the Partnership Coordinator will manage the entire sub-grant lifecycle—from pre-award assessments, financial reviews, and compliance monitoring to close-outs. The position will also support budget development, grants tracking, partner reporting, and documentation processes. The role requires close collaboration with CCS partners, Mercy Corps teams in Sudan and Kenya, and other stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of cash assistance, market systems strengthening, local capacity building, and evidence generation.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
a. Sub-Awards Management (40%)
Conduct pre-award assessments and recommend compliance requirements.
Review and track sub-grantee financial reports, fund requests, and deliverables.
Perform financial monitoring visits and audits, report findings, and follow up on recommendations.
Manage sub-grant close-outs, compliance tracking, and contract documentation.
Maintain up-to-date trackers for sub-grants, contracts, and procurement commitments.
b. Financial Management (30%)
Review purchase requests, orders, payment requests, and financial service provider agreements.
Support budget development for funding opportunities, including partner budget reviews and alignment with donor requirements.
Ensure transparent financial resource use in compliance with Mercy Corps and donor policies.
Provide compliance training to finance and non-finance team members.
c. Grants Management (30%)
Coordinate partner inputs for proposals, budgets, and reports.
Maintain grants and reporting trackers, ensuring timely submissions.
Review partner narrative reports for consistency with financial data.
Consolidate partner inputs into donor-compliant reports and respond to donor queries.
Support knowledge management and donor-facing communication materials.
d. Safeguarding Responsibilities
Integrate safeguarding into all activities and uphold Mercy Corps values of respect, dignity, and integrity.
Promote openness and reporting of safeguarding concerns.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum 3 years’ progressive experience in financial management, grants, and sub-award administration (preferably in international NGOs).
Strong technical accounting skills and experience with general ledgers, payroll, accounts payable, and balance sheets.
Proven experience in sub-award management and donor compliance (ECHO, SDC, USAID/BHA, FCDO preferred).
Skilled in preparing and analyzing financial reports and translating data for non-finance colleagues.
Excellent coordination, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
Fluent in written and spoken English.
