Job Description
Job Title: Packaging Artisan (Fresher Jobs)
Organisation: Nile Breweries
Duty Station: Mbarara, Uganda
The key purpose of this role is to perform the optimisation /modifications of process control systems. Supports the installations of process control & relevant electrical systems. Maintain, calibrate, repair equipment, optimise plant and associated devices to ensure plant availability and product quality.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Maintain a safe and healthy working environment
Ensure safety, health and environmental procedures and legislation complied with.
Maintain safety and housekeeping standards
Report unsafe acts and conditions
Ensure correct handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals in your working area
Maintain, calibrate, repair and optimize plant and associated devices
Locate plant, equipment, spares and relevant documentation/ systems
Plan, and prepare the job
Carry out repairs/ maintenance
Continuously improve (optimize) plant, process equipment and systems
Operate plant and process equipment
Calibrate instruments and sensors
Optimize spare usage
Participate in planning and execution of normal maintenance and overhauls
Provide specialist technical support and enhance machines, system and process capabilities
Monitor machine performance
Resolve and eliminate problems
Support in breakdown maintenance and call out
Perform ad hoc maintenance when required
Support in quality and hygiene improvement.
Develop initiatives for improving machine capability (efficiency, reliability, quality, usages and safety)
Conduct machine audit s and feedback to the team
Manage inventory
Optimize engineering spare and consumables usage
ABC analysis
Manage satellite spare availability and usage
Ensure the rotable spares are available for use
Work in teams
Communicate effectively in teams
Contribute to self and team development
Apply the VPO principles and practices
Apply 5S standards and practices in the workplace
Operate and control the process according to the SOPs
Support in situational problem solving Problem identification, Problem definition, QFR development, 5why, Loop closure & Escalation. Adherence to triggers
Support systematic problem solving initiatives ABR and PIPs
Participate in conditioned based maintenance and quality based maintenance.
Improve personal competence and skills flexibility
Support set up time reduction initiatives
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Trade Tested Millwright or Electromechanical Artisan
3 – 6 months on the job training plus Vendor Maintenance
Routine electrical and instrumentation maintenance on similar. Brewing and utilities plants
Comprehensive Packaging, Brewing and E&F plants equipment and process knowledge
Key Attributes and Competencies:
Analytical ability and attention to detail
Display initiative and ability to interact and influence at all levels of the organisation, within a team environment and with suppliers
Motivated self-starter with high energy levels
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Team player
