Job Description
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Take detailed patient history, perform visual acuity tests, and conduct comprehensive eye examinations
- Measure refractive errors to determine correct lens prescriptions for glasses or contact lenses
- Perform basic orthoptic and squint (strabismus) assessments including ocular alignment and binocular vision assessment
- Support other eye specialties to manage conditions like glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, and dry eye syndrome
- Advise patients on the best type of corrective lenses based on their visual needs
- Fit eyeglasses or contact lenses
- Explain eye health concerns and provide information on proper eye care practices
- Promote optical products and services within the clinic including frames, lenses, and eye care packages
