How to Apply
Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history reviews, visual acuity testing, and comprehensive eye examinations to identify refractive errors, visual impairments, and eye diseases.
Accurately measure refractive errors and prescribe appropriate corrective lenses for eyeglasses or contact lenses.
Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other eye care specialists in the management of conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, and dry eye syndrome.
Provide professional advice to patients on the selection and fitting of corrective lenses.
Educate patients on proper eye care, preventative measures, and answer inquiries related to vision and eye health.
Promote the hospital’s optical services, including eyewear products, lens options, and care packages.
Assist in maintaining high-quality patient care standards and uphold professional ethics.
Education: Diploma in Optometry from a recognized and accredited institution.
Licensing: Must be registered with the relevant medical board in Uganda and authorized to practice optometry.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in optometry at a recognized health facility.
Skills & Competencies:
Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant clinical software.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Good understanding of current eyewear trends and frame styles (an added advantage).
Attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
