Job Description
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive ophthalmic history taking and eye examinations
- Diagnose and manage common ocular diseases and conditions within scope of practice
- Prescribe appropriate medications and treatment plans
- Perform basic orthoptic and squint (strabismus) assessments including ocular alignment and binocular vision assessment
- Conduct post-operative reviews and follow-up clinics
- Supervise other clinicians and eye care team members in the department
- Ensure proper documentation in patient medical records
- Observe infection prevention and control measures
- Convert appropriate patients to surgical services
- Support growth of outreach services
- Provide in-service teaching and training of interns and nurses
