Nutrition Officer – Rhino Camp Job at World Vision Uganda

Job Description
Provide Technical Support in delivery of Targeted Supplementary Feeding Programme and MCHN at different Health Facilities in line with Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition Guidelines (IMAM) of Uganda.
Support the Nutrition Assistant in conducting Anthropometric Assessment and issuance of nutritious foods to those identified with Moderate Acute Malnutrition during clinic days.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Project planning and Implementation
- Provide Technical Support in delivery of Targeted Supplementary Feeding Programme and MCHN at different Health Facilities in line with Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition Guidelines (IMAM) of Uganda.
- Support the Nutrition Assistant in conducting Anthropometric Assessment and issuance of nutritious foods to those identified with Moderate Acute Malnutrition during clinic days.
- In collaboration with Nutrition Assistants, support VHTs to carry-out active case finding at Community level.
- Provide technical guidance to World Vision staff, Volunteers on all nutrition-related activities.
- Ensure close coordination with other humanitarian actors at zonal level ensuring high quality delivery.
- Take lead in mobilizing and organizing Mass Screening in collaboration with other stakeholder and actors.
Capacity Building and Training
- Take lead in trainings for all Community Volunteers (VHTs) and other community-based structures on nutrition.
- Take lead in development/adoption of training curriculum/manuals for community-based structures.
- Provide mentoring and coaching to Nutrition Assistants, VHTs ensuring the Nutrition Assistants participate in capacity-building opportunities.
- Liaise with the Nutrition Project Coordinator on staff capacity building in Nutrition.
Projection Monitoring, reporting and evaluation
- Conduct regular site visits and reviews of project documentation of attendance (SFP registers, screening tools, and client cards etc) ensuring they are adequately filled.
- Review and submit to the MEAL Officer reports (e.g., weekly, monthly, or quarterly) on project progress, challenges, and achievements, providing updates to stakeholders, donors, and senior management.
- Contribute to periodic evaluations (baseline or end-of-project) to assess overall project success, capture lessons learned, and recommend improvements for future projects.
- Maintain a database for all clients in the TSFP and MCHN Program.
- Take lead in documenting success stories.
Staff management
- Regularly assess performance Nutrition Assistants, provide constructive feedback, and set clear goals to help team members improve and meet project objectives.
- Identify skills gaps and organize training in collaboration with the Nutrition Project Coordinator and ensure Nutrition Assistants.
- Foster a positive work environment by recognizing achievements, addressing concerns, and promoting teamwork to maintain high morale and productivity.
- Address any interpersonal issues or conflicts within the team promptly, providing support and mediation to maintain a harmonious and collaborative work atmosphere.
- Ensure all staff, Volunteers adhere to World Vision’s safeguarding policy and behaviour protocols.
Partnership and networking
- Identify and build strategic linkages, relations, collaborations and networks with partners and other stakeholders in implementation of the Nutrition Project at the District level.
- Participate and represent WVU in key donor engagements and technical working forums at district, region and National level when applicable
- Point of contact for consultation on issues to do with the WFP Nutrition Project
- Work closely with District Health Office ensuring the Nutrition Project aligns to District and Ministry of Health guidelines and ensuring appropriate referrals.
