Job Description
Reporting to the Head of Outreach, the Medical Officer In Charge is responsible for delivering quality medical care and managing the day-to-day operations of the medical centre. This includes patient assessment, minor procedures, and referrals, as well as administrative tasks such as supervising staff, resolving patient concerns, implementing operational policies, and reporting on performance. The role also involves initiating and supporting quality improvement efforts within the centre.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Conduct patient assessments and provide appropriate clinical management.
Perform minor medical procedures and therapeutic interventions.
Monitor patient progress and provide follow-up care or referrals as needed.
Ensure patient confidentiality and compliance with hospital privacy policies.
Oversee the daily operations of the medical centre to ensure efficiency and quality service.
Supervise and mentor both clinical and administrative staff.
Develop and enforce operational policies and procedures.
Address patient complaints promptly and professionally.
Generate performance reports and share updates with the Head of Outreach.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure patient safety standards.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar clinical leadership position.
Registered and licensed by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
Additional certification in emergency procedures (e.g., ACLS, ATLS) is an added advantage.
Strong leadership, communication, and public relations skills.
Proven competency in clinical judgment and administrative oversight.
