ITM Uganda is seeking a qualified and experienced Mechanic on behalf of a client in Uganda. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing fleet vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety. Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Conduct scheduled maintenance and routine inspections to ensure vehicles remain roadworthy and prevent breakdowns.
Diagnose and repair mechanical issues involving engines, suspensions, brakes, electrical systems, and other vehicle components.
Maintain detailed and accurate service records for each vehicle, ensuring all maintenance activities are properly logged.
Respond promptly to vehicle breakdowns, performing on-site repairs when feasible to reduce operational downtime.
Track inventory levels of parts, tools, and materials, and submit requests for restocking as needed.
Coordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs and parts acquisition when required.
Ensure all vehicles comply with regulatory standards, including technical inspections, insurance, and registration.
Provide technical assessments and service reports to management, including maintenance schedules and repair updates.
Adhere to health and safety procedures in the workshop and on-site to maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
National Certificate in Automotive Mechanics (mandatory)
Valid Ugandan Driving License (minimum Class B)
At least 3 years of hands-on experience in a busy workshop or transport-related organization
Proficient in handling both petrol and diesel engines
Familiar with diagnostic tools and possesses basic computer literacy
